Online Games & the Meaning of life

Try to imagine what it must have been like to have lived in the 1800′s? I just can’t. I mean, I attempt to… But then a sickening feeling begins to throb at the back of my skull and I’m immediately shoved back into 2008. Hooray—modern times! The times of Britney Spears, Fast Food, Eddie Izzard, Gears of War,Spongebob Squarepants, and George W. Bush. Now that’s what I call living!
Now hold on! People had wonderful things in the 1800′s as well right? Of course they did! -Lots of things! Like… Butter churns, and… Funny hats… And,uh, those really neat sticks that have a head of a horse on them. Know what I mean? Those horse-head sticks that you could put between your legs and shout”Giddie up!” as you stomped about back yard. They had those things! Those were fun right?

Okay, it’s time to face it. People back then didn’t have squat. They didn’t even have electricity. How sad is that? Even if you were to go back in time, and hand them a brand new Playstation 3… They could not even play the damn thing. They would have had to use it as a display base for their paper dolls orsomething. Did they have paper dolls? Did they have paper? Or did they have to cut their paper dolls out of leaves? I can’t think about it anymore. I’m getting that sickening feeling again.

Now, think about what we have. -Not just in terms of basic things like indoor plumbing. But instead, really cool, important things like ipods and HBO. Who could really live without an ipod and HBO? Well, perhaps some savages in Borneo or something, but not anyone of any real breading. Television, microwaves,Hot Pockets, and The Allman Brothers, -just a few of the many things that technology has brought to us.

And what do you believe would be the best thing? Here’s a hint. It’s not the heart-lung machine. (But that’s good too I suppose.)

The best thing, in the history of the planet, is online games.

Oh yeah, I said it. Online games baby. Think about it. Technology goes along, and makes this thing called paper, which allows for the sum of all knowledge to be recorded for future generations. And folks like you and I come along and say- “Yeah, that’s nice, but can we play games on it?” And POOF, just like that, Tic Tac Toe is born. But then along comes the Television. –A devise that brings information across the nation in an instant! And people like you and I say “Yeah, but can we play games on it?” And BANG, just like that, Nintendo is born.

And today… we have the computer. -The ultimate piece of machinery to increase the productivity of workers for generations to come. But guess what. Oh yeah baby… You can play games on it! And not just “Hey-I-gotta-sell-my-kidney-to-affored-this-damn-thing” kinda games. But real, honest to god, gaming masterpieces which can be downloaded to your work computer for FREE! (That’s not a typo. Many of these games are FREE.)

Look at a site like Jenkatgames dot com. Now here is a site that is filled with free downloadable games. Games that are so good, that I guarantee you’ll miss out on that big promotion from playing them so much. Take a look at the game “Finder’s Keepers”. This game is, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever played. I’ve never said the phrase “Just one more try”. more times, than when I’m playing Finder’s Keepers.

And other games like “Go-Go Gourmet” or “Great Secrets: Da Vinci” are just as amazing. And I think that people owe it to themselves to avail themselves to the greatest accomplishment of our generation. Online games, It’s not a horse-stick or a heart-lung machine or anything. –But it’s gotta be a close second.

The Cornhole Game

Most games today are for specific age groups and cannot really be enjoyed by families as a whole. Usually, there are games for older people, games for adults, games for teens, and games for children. There can be a lot of reasons that it is difficult to get everyone together. For one thing, interests are very different based on age groups. Not every person in a family has the same skills or is able to do the same kinds of things as someone else. This means that a game that can be played by a healthy twenty five year old often cannot be played by a seventy five year old, with some exceptions, of course. This being the case, people who want to have a game that everyone in their family can play search for games without much luck. One good option is the Cornhole game. Since they all have the opportunity to play this game, it can bring family members closer. The game is very easy and the rules are not complicated, but yet it provides hours of enjoyment for people of all ages.
It is not that expensive to buy the equipment that is needed for the Cornhole game. He or she can also make his or her own Cornhole set, but not everyone wants to do this. it really does not matter whether the set is built or purchased, though, because it is easy to set up and easy to play, which are the only real issues that matter. If it is too complicated, a lot of people will decide to do something else because the game board either takes too long to prepare or the game itself is too complicated to learn quickly, so that it can be enjoyed. Fortunately, the Cornhole game has none of these problems and is ideal for almost any family to get together and play. The Cornhole bags that are tossed at the board are soft and lightweight, and there are no sharp edges on the board. People without much athletic ability or strength can play the game, as can young children, since there are no heavy items or sharp edges.

Because the Cornhole game is simplistic but very enjoyable, more families are playing it. It is not as common in the south, but it does have a strong following in the north, and it is gaining ground in the west. It is also sometimes called the bean bag game or the bean bag toss instead of the Cornhole game. The game remains the same, regardless of the name difference. The bean bag game sometimes uses a smaller board, but those who play the Cornhole game also sometimes use the smaller board for ease of transport to parties and other family gatherings. The only other difference seen between the two involves the bags, which sometimes have bean, sometimes have corn, and sometimes have plastic pellets, which last longer.

Not as much as you might think has changed in the arcade world. Sure, you have endless memory now with state of the art graphics and teams of highly motivated geeks designing games and strategies around the clock and a fine job they do.
But there is nothing to compare with the innocent arcade fun one can have with the classic arcade games. Modern games can be daunting and most people simply don’t have the time to hone their skill to a new environment and strategy.

Arcade games, on the other hand are small, compact, easy to learn (you have probably learned lots of games already!) and challenging. While on high-score-games.com, I was able to load and play any number of arcade games – a dangerous thing indeed for I found I was losing myself in this highly addictive, but enjoyable activity. In all, It was a nostalgic experience.

Remember Space invaders? Launched in 1978 by the Taito Corporation, and has been the benchmark of classic games of the time. As more of the wave of invaders are shot, the remaining aliens would speed up and drop down increasing the tempo of everything in the game.

Programming of Space Invaders was quirky in the old days. As the coders did not implement random numbers, the score given when a spaceship was hit was a function of the number of shots during a wave. The maximum score of 300 was given when a user hit the first flying saucer with the 23rd shot. The full 300 points was awarded for destroying the spaceship with every 15th shot after that.

I was 10 when space invaders first came out and I remember well the excitement generated, the queues to play, the making of local legends who could beat the system with skill and endless coins.

The PacMan arcade game was another favourite, with Shadow, Speedy, Bashful and Pokey gobbling up the dots at a ferocious rate. Developed by Namco in 1980, it became immensely popular around the world and even inspired a very successful single. This game, like Space Invaders, had a deterministic nature which allowed the determined user to learn a sequence of moves that would guide PacMan safely through the maze, level after level without being caught.

When playing this on high-score-games.com, I found that I had not lost the knack and completed 3 rounds on the first go! It’s amazing how you can recall such intimate knowledge and strategy from a distant period.

So, why not rekindle some of the old classic arcade games and see if you still have what it takes to beat the space invaders or evade the ghosts in Pacman. You’d be surprised how enjoyable the old games still are.
